Bruce Grainger – Most Outstanding Support Male Actor 2013

Bruce Grainger‘s performance as Walter Kidd, the father in  Foreigners from Home, earned him the trophy for the Most Outstanding Male Support Actor in a Drama / Comedy when the  Gippsland Associated Theatre Awards were announced at Bairnsdale on Saturday 7th December 2013.

The achievement was even more remarkable when you consider that he stepped into the role less than two weeks before the play was due to hit the stage.

FAMDA also received Michelle Linahan‘s judge’s award for the “beautiful creation of a creek using fabric, lighting and sound” in Foreigners from Home.

Foreigners from Home had earned six other nominations including one for  the Most Outstanding Drama or Comedy and Chris Dickins was nominated twice, once for direction and also for his lighting design.

Nominations also went to Harley McDonald-Eckersall in the Most Outstanding Lead Actor – Female in a Drama or Comedy category in which the teenager had to compete with adults.

Bruce Grainger and Norm Willoughby were both nominated in the Most Outstanding Support Actor – Male category.

Leuca Maclean has earned a nomination for the Most Outstanding Youth Performance – Male where he faced stiff competition from four lads involved in Wonthaggi Theatrical Group’s musical, 13.

The FAMDA table at the GAT awards in Bairnsdale included Jennifer & Dianne Paragreen, Chris Dickins and Annette Walker.
