Leongatha Lyric Theatre
& Latrobe Theatre Company ………. defeated Wonthaggi Theatrical Group & FAMDA … …. by just 2 points

Leongatha Lyric Theatre (Peter Gilbert & Kerena McLaren)
Latrobe Theatre Company (Kara Smith & Aron Toman)

Wonthaggi Theatrical Group (Ryan Bowler & Tash Eastman-Nagle)
FAMDA (Sue Dower & Dianne Paragreen)

The highest scoring skit of the night was Lyric / Latrobe’s take on two workers repairing the statue of David.
Star turns included Kara Smith as an hell-raising e

A great time was had by all and proceeds of the raffle are going towards flood relief in northern Victoria.

Back on 6 February 2009 a similar gladiatorial challenge was won by a team called Wonda – comprising, from WONTHAGGI THEATRICAL GROUP – Rory Godbold and Lindy Waldron and from FAMDA – Max Adam and Dianne Paragreen.

Rhonda Hanily, Peter Gilbert, Kerena McLaren and Paul Smith represented Lyric, providing some spirited competition but Dianne proved to be the queen of musical theatre trivia.

Lyric people now think it is time to have another attempt at gaining the Grail and send the following invitation!

On Friday 28th January 2011 Lyric will be hosting “The Return of the Holy Grail” at the Dakers Centre in Leongatha.

We would like to invite members of  FAMDA and the Wonthaggi Theatrical Group to team up again and we would also be desperate thrilled to invite the Latrobe Theatre Company  to team up with Lyric to form the opposing team for this event.  Each theatre group can put forward two members to represent their company.  Please contact the organisers for this event, either Alison McIntyre (0408 050 669), or Greta Rendell (03 5662 5146) to let us know who will be representing your company and their contact details.

We would also like to invite one member from each of the four theatre groups to be a part of the judging panel of four judges.  In addition there will be an opportunity for each group to have a short presentation during the night to promote their theatre company and their upcoming productions.  This may be in the form of a short musical item or simply a speech from a company member outlining the group’s 2011 agenda.

We feel that a social event with the members of the four groups is a good opportunity for interaction, letting our hair down and laughing at our own expense.

This event will be open to the public and we would be thrilled to have members of your company come along and join in watching the humiliation of their fellow thespians

Bookings will be tables of 10 or individual bookings at $15 each.

We would appreciate a response to this letter fairly promptly as teams need to be confirmed and there will be a rehearsal prior to the night to familiarise the teams with the theatre games.  This rehearsal will be at the Eagger Studio (Leongatha Lyric Theatre) Watson Road, Leongatha at 2pm on Wednesday 26th January (Australia Day).

    Yours sincerely
    Leongatha Lyric Theatre Committee

      THE HOLY GRAIL

Leongatha Lyric’s theatre challenge was won by a team called Wonda – comprising, from Wonthaggi Theatrical Group – Rory Godbold and Lindy Waldron and from FAMDA – Max Adam and Dianne Paragreen.

The contest took place at the Dakers Centre in Leongatha on Friday 6 February in front of an audience of enthusiastic theatre folk with all proceeds going to Rollercoaster Theatre.

WONDA won! Brilliant musical theatre knowledge from Dianne Paragreen helped the combined theatre company team blitz Lyric’s team. Some great improvising too and they ended up winning by 9 points.

    4. Judy Barnard Says:

Wish I were Jeannie and could cross my arms, blink and be there. What a hoot! Go WONDA! with apologies to my dear friends at Lyric & Latrobe. Have fun.
