THE HOLY GRAIL
On 28 January 2011 a tightly fought contest had the search for the Holy Grail of Theatre won by a combination of Leongatha Lyric Theatre and Latrobe Theatre Company defeating a team called Wonda, comprising Wonthaggi Theatrical Group and FAMDA by just two points.
The Leongatha / Latrobe team was made up of Peter Gilbert and Kerena McLaren from Lyric and Kara Smith and Aron Toman representing Latrobe Theatre Company.
The team called Wanda comprised Ryan Bowler and Tash Eastman-Nagle representing Wonthaggi Theatrical Group with FAMDA’s Sue Dower and Dianne Paragreen.
The highest scoring skit of the night was Lyric / Latrobe’s take on two workers repairing the statue of David.
Theatrical highlights included Kara Smith as a hell-raising evangelist trying to convince people to embrace musical theatre and Dianne Paragreen as Julia Gillard at a press conference announcing her intention to join the cast of “Hair”.

In 2009 Leongatha Lyric’s theatre challenge was won by a team called Wonda – comprising, from Wonthaggi Theatrical Group – Rory Godbold and Lindy Waldron and from FAMDA – Max Adam and Dianne Paragreen.
Rhonda Hanily, Peter Gilbert, Kerena McLaren and Paul Smith represented Lyric and they provided some spirited competition but Dianne proved to be the queen of musical theatre trivia.
The contest took place at the Dakers Centre in Leongatha on Friday 6 February 2009 in front of an audience of enthusiastic theatre folk with all proceeds going to Rollercoaster Theatre.
