In September 2016, at the invitation of the Prom Coast Singers, noted musical director Richard Gill conducted a weekend of choral workshops at the Foster War Memorial Arts Centre.
Called Sing South Gippsland 2, the project was designed for singers from Gippsland choirs and included two concert performances open to the public.
More than one hundred choristers from the Bass Coast Chorale, the Yallourn Madrigal Singers, Bec’s Bonnie Boners and the West Gippsland Chorale plus several individual singers joined the Prom Coast Singers for the inspirational and entertaining workshops.
Later in concert, each choir presented its own program and also a song rehearsed by all choirs and sung jointly.
Richard Gill proved to be a most engaging, informative and encouraging teacher.
Interestingly one of his many significant posts was as Dean of the West Australian Conservatorium of Music (1985-1990) where Prom Coast Singers’ Musical Director, Claudene-Marie Adams, was one of his inspired students.
